Center Matt Anderson led the way for Chicago (47-21-1-6) with a goal and an assist while Mannino (24-3-1) turned aside all 32 shots he faced to pick up his second shutout of the year. Left wing Greg Stewart and defensemen Paul Postma and Arturs Kulda also lit the lamp.
Stewart put the Wolves on board just 36 seconds into the opening frame. Right wing Anthony Stewart sent the puck into the crease from behind the net and Greg Stewart was there to wrist it in, top shelf.
Anderson put the Wolves up, 2-0, at 18:53 of the first period when he took a shot from the point and followed through to poke in the puck that had trickled through Houston netminder Wade Dubielewicz’s pads.
Postma netted a goal from the slot, top-shelf, at 12:45 of the second period. Skating up the wing, center Riley Holzapfel crossed the blueline and sent a pass over to Postma, who finished off the play to give Chicago a three-goal lead.
The Wolves went up 4-0 when right wing Spencer Machacek stole the puck away from Houston on the far blueline. Anderson received the puck and passed it over to Kulda, who took a shot from the slot that flew under Dubielewicz’s five-hole at 17:38 of the middle stanza.
Dubielewicz (12-14-1) posted 16 saves for Houston (30-32-7-5) before being replaced by Darcy Kuemper, who made four saves on four shots during the third period
The Wolves continue their road trip with a rematch against the Aeros at the Toyota Center on Friday at 7 p.m.
