Wolves Add Evan Oberg to the Pack

The Chicago Wolves announced Monday they have signed 2012 Calder Cup champion Evan Oberg.

OBERG posted 9 assists and 20 penalty minutes in 56 games with the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch last season. He also skated in four postseason contests with the Crunch last year.

The 25-year-old defenseman compiled 7 goals, 18 assists, and 25 points in 54 AHL tilts with San Antonio and Norfolk in 2011-12. He bagged 23 points (7G, 16A) in 42 games with Norfolk after joining the club via trade in December, 2011.

The Forestburg, Alberta, native ranked second among team blueliners with 10 points (2G, 8A) in 18 playoff contests en route to helping Norfolk claim the 2012 Calder Cup Championship.

Overall, OBERG has accumulated 17 goals, 56 assists, and 73 points in 223 career AHL outings with Manitoba, Rochester, San Antonio, Norfolk, and Syracuse from 2009-13. He also has appeared in seven National Hockey League games with Vancouver (2009-11) and Tampa Bay (2011-12).

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Wolves, who finished second in American Hockey League attendance for the 2012-13 campaign, are now accepting deposits for 2013-14 season tickets and group outings for this season.
