The Wolves have only dropped one game to Lake Erie at Allstate Arena --- a 5-3 decision on Jan. 14, 2012 --- since the teams first faced off in 2007-08; overall the Wolves hold an 13-1-0-0 record against the Monsters in the comfort of their own arena.
The Chicago Wolves will wear specially designed Fight Against Cancer jerseys during their home games on Jan. 16, 17, and 31 at Allstate Arena to raise money for Chicago Wolves Charities and local cancer-related charities, each of which is devoted to making lives better for cancer fighters and their families.
The Wolves travel to Des Moines to face the Iowa Wild tonight as the teams head into the stretch run of their season series. Chicago has had success at Wells Fargo Arena, never dropping a regulation decision there against the Wild and with their last regulation loss in the building coming on Oct. 31, 2008, to then-tenant the Iowa Chops.
The Chicago Wolves dropped their lone game last week as they were topped 5-1 by Grand Rapids on Saturday. The team is just past the midway point of their Midwest Division slate this season and are 9-9-3-0 (.500), with 19 of their final 40 games coming against intra-division rivals. Two of those tilts will come this week as they host Lake Erie and Rockford following a quick trip to Iowa tomorrow to face the Wild. The Wolves will need to pick up some points against the ultra-competitive Midwest if they hope to maintain their playoff positioning, no small task as four of the five teams in the division are currently in the top eight in the Western Conference (Rockford 3rd, Milwaukee 6th, Grand Rapids 7th, Chicago 8th).
Grand Rapids, Mich. – John Anderson’s 1,000th regular-season game as the Chicago Wolves’ head coach did not live up to the occasion as the Grand Rapids Griffins claimed a 5-1 victory Saturday night at Van Andel Arena.
